Biography
Bier en Brood (Beer and Bread) is an artist duo consisting of Koen Harmsma and Jelmer Noordeman. Both guys are illustrators and graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.
"Inspired by machines, nature and architecture, we have a unique style that paints a dark apocalyptic and/or psychedelic world. The drawings are often very detailed pen drawings. For a larger canvas we use sraycans. Although our interests lie in the unconventional, we aspire to offer a spectrum of art as wide as possible without losing artistic authenticity. Detail and format are terms that are central to our work. We like to work with black and white and try to give the viewer the feeling he can get lost in our work. The viewer who takes a good look will be rewarded with an occasional hidden joke."
